Introduction to Cleaning

It might seem like a senseless inquiry, with a blindingly clear answer...try and answer it!

Cleaning is defined as "the removal of soil by applying energy." There are three types of energy used in cleaning:

Chemical Energy

Chemicals, when connected to soil will unstick it, separate it into littler particles and hold it in suspension.

Physical Energy

Nearly all cleaning tasks involve physical energy. Detergents break down grease, but agitation with cloths or pads is needed for complete removal.

Heat Energy

Steam can effectively remove soil, especially grease. Hot water enhances chemical effectiveness by softening grease.
